County Guide to Equal Opportunities and Racial Equality

Enfield County School values the diversity of our society. We believe that this diversity contributes positively to education. The school aims to provide an education which promotes equality of opportunity for all irrespective of age, disability, gender, learning needs, race, religion or sexuality. We must all take responsibility for the implementation of a policy which achieves this aim.

In order to promote good educational practice we must identify and challenge all situations in which discriminatory practice occur. This could be as a result of conscious or unconscious stereotyping, racism or patronising images of others.

The school is committed to addressing and preventing racism.  Everyone is expected to and is encouraged to report racist  incidents, which will be recorded and acted upon to ensure peaceful resolutions and reassertion of our anti-racist policy.

We believe in the power of education to challenge inequality and monitor all aspects of school life in order to ensure that equality of opportunity is promoted.

Through this process it is hoped that everyone - staff and students, with the co-operation and support of parents and governors – can learn and develop in an atmosphere of mutual trust and respect free from discrimination.
