Enfield County School is celebrating 100 years of educating young women and has planned a range of activities to take place at our Holly Walk site on Saturday 28 November 2009 between 1pm – 4pm. As well as touring the Old Building and our new Edwardian Garden we will be holding an exhibition of memorabilia, an unveiling of the centenary mural, experiencing the past and present teaching methods in our ‘old’ and ‘new’ science labs. Refreshments will be served in the main hall by the ‘Friends’ of Enfield County School and musicians at school will be providing entertainment throughout the afternoon. This event is open to the public and Ms Rutherford, Headteacher welcomes anyone who is interested in the historical timeline of the school. We also hope that former students of Enfield County School will take the opportunity to come and celebrate with us.

If you require further information about his event please contact Mrs G Beale in the school office on 020 8363 3030 or contact: gillb@enfieldcs.enfield.sch.uk.

A Song for Enfield County. The Song for Enfield County competition was very exciting, with many students taking part. A lot of fun was had by the students and teachers alike and there was a wonderful input from the lower school in the vote which resulted in a tie!

As part of our celebration of "100 years of excellence in education", Enfield County supported the Big Read on April 22nd: A worldwide initiative to keep Governments to their promise to have all children in education by 2015. Seventeen year 10 and 11 students took part in the 'Big Read' in Enfield Town centre. not only did they gather plenty of signatures for the petition but they also raised awareness about the global need for education and performed speeches, poems and plays to a professional standard. They represented the school wonderfully and we could not have been prouder.

Plans are currently in place for a Centenary garden. We hope to plant this in the summer term with Miss Wolfson, Ms Fedarb, and the year 12's. If anyone would like to lend any gardening equipment or donate plants for the project, please contact the school.
