Welcome

"We recognise and celebrate our culturally diverse student and staff body which we know enriches the life of Enfield County School for Girls.

We know that it is important to ensure that the views of all members of our school community are heard and that every girl in our care is listened to and has equal access to all areas of school life.

With this in mind there are several things that we will be focusing on this academic year to  ensure that equality and diversity are promoted as much as possible within our school .

Throughout the year we will focus on different areas of equality and diversity to empower  our school community to work towards racial and gender equality.

Staff have attended training on unconscious bias, which has enabled greater recognition and understanding of the issues surrounding this and is enabling conversation with students and each other.

Students in years 9, 11 and 13 have met with Karen Allen a diversities speaker to discuss a range of diversity issues and these discussions have  resulted in planning for a more robust "student voice and diversity" platform which will be launched after Easter.

Review of our curriculum is ongoing and we recognise the importance of this in reflecting the diversity of the community we serve both in terms of race and gender.

We aim to ensure that a wide range and representation of our student  community is reflected in the displays that we create around the school, on our school website and through our use of social media and in the resources that we use and opportunities provided to our students.

We have formed a governors equality and diversity working party which will meet regularly with members  of staff and the senior leadership team to support us with our work in this area.

Alongside the work that we will be doing in school there will be resources posted here to inform, and help support, you as parents when discussing issues concerning equality and diversity with your daughters."
